![]() settings file you can just import so it's less confusing, but for now this will do for most people. You can download the apk from their site, appcloner.app, and rebuild the messenger apk, changing the "Android Version" setting to the value 10. I actually can not fully decompile the messenger apk due to Facebook's arrogance (not joking), so you can actually recreate this yourself fairly easily, with the use of an app called App Cloner. Check his post out! He has less bugs in his and he was successfully able to decompile the apk, so NO CODE INJECTION! Thanks man! User u/burnoo says, "Hi, I was managed to decompile whole apks and I've created similar MOD (with newest versions): Facebook: 326 Massenger: 321". All I ask for in return is simply an upvote on my post if you found this useful. If anyone would like to join me and help with these patches, that would be GREATLY appreciated. You can report bugs here and I'll try to fix them but I can't promise anything. Hopefully this won't be an issue for too long, and Android will fix all the bugs in the Bubbles API. You can also report bugs here and I'll TRY to fix them, but I won't promise anything because I'm just not that smart guys, lol.įor those of you who already know me and this story, I'll be posting updates regularly on this thread, but I may miss some or take too long to upload one, in which case you can comment here or PM me to request an update. The only thing I ask in return is simply an upvote on my post if you found this helpful. I injected code that makes the app think you're on Android 11 (prior to the Bubbles API), therefore not even attempting to show notifications as bubbles and bringing back the old Chat Heads. This was devastating to almost every Facebook user on Android 11, because there are so many bugs in the Bubble Notifications, despite it being on a "stable" Android release! Well, I took it upon myself to accept this challenge, for the better of the Android community. Instead, they saw that Android 11 had a new Bubble Notification feature and decided to use that instead. Facebook frantically tried fixing this before their stable release of Messenger came out, but it was to no avail. For some unknown reason, the y position of the chat heads upon opening a message would be set to a very low value, therefore displaying the chat off the screen and out of the user's viewport. In a beta release of Messenger, the chat heads were still available, although they wouldn't display properly while in the landscape orientation. When Android 11 was released, some small bugs were fixed which, in turn, broke the functioning of chat heads. I'm not 100% sure how it was done, but they used some sort of exploit with the App Overlay function to make it work. This is because of the way chat heads were implemented. If you didn't already know, Messenger chat heads were "removed" when the stable release of Android 11 finally came (you can skip to the next paragraph if you know this already). Check his post out! Thanks man!įor those of you who are looking for a way to bring back Facebook Messenger's old chat heads or for those who are following me for updates on the apk I've already posted elsewhere, this post is for you. THIS HAS BEEN DEPRECATED! User u/burnoo says, "Hi, I was managed to decompile whole apks and I've created similar MOD (with newest versions): Facebook: 326 Massenger: 321". Finally, I found a way to get chat heads back for good! New post here A lot has happened behind the scenes, with me and many others working tirelessly to get this working with no real progress. Ignore everything past this point, as it is very outdated.
